Don't Tell My Kids that the British Have all of the Cool Toys
This is a pretty interesting if not pretty exclusive poll from the BBC about British children and their toys:
A poll of 1,300 families found that seven in 10 children have their own television while six in 10 have a games console.
A third of children have gadgets worth up to £2,000 in their rooms, according to the survey for Lloyds TSB Insurance.
The article continues:
More than half of the children involved in the survey have a DVD player, about 50% have a hi-fi system in their room, while about one in three have a digital personal music player or a computer.
£2,000 worth of gadgets in their rooms? That's like $3500 in US dollars. Do all British kids have Plasma TVs in their rooms? I can't imagine too many American homes that have more than a thousand dollars worth of gadgets in their kid's rooms. Just be sure not to tell your kids about the survey, or they might get a bit jealous. Seems to me like this was a pretty selective survey from an insurance company that wants parents to run out and insure their kid's toys.
Makes me reminisce about the good old days (translate: sucky days) when I had AM/FM radio in my room with a metal coat hanger for an antenna.
