Have been going around with DirecTV now for months. Several problems and they don't really seem to care.
First, when the installer came out to install the dish he ran a ground wire across my entire roof rather than down the side closest to the dish. Connected it to the outside hose bibb. We have a well and PVC pipe to the house. Copper pipe in the house. Within 6 weeks of the install we developed a "pin hole leak" in the plumbing. Paid $1153 to get it fixed. Less than a month later anothe leak, this right next to the bibb. This plumber noted the connection and explained that the ground was setting up an electrolysis in the water because of the lack of copper in the ground. I pulled the ground off and installed a ground pole. No more leaks. Tried to get someone from DirecTV to reply and all they have done is ignore me.
Next. Upgraded to HD with them about 2 years ago. Installed an off air antenna for local HD broadcasts. Finally got a receiver that worked after three tries. Bought a second HDTV for the bedroom.
After they came out and installed the new receiver and "upgraded" the old receiver they told me I would no longer be able to get the secondary channels broadcast by the local stations. Examples: radar/weather from local CBS/NBC stations as well as 4 additional PBS stations. (Don't know if stations is right as they are . stations, such as 9.1 or 9.2 where the main channel is 9).
So with the "upgrade" I have 6 fewer channels, no freeze frame and a less detailed info screen on the guide. Used to tell me much more about the movies...stars, dates, etc.
I called Dish and they say they can deliver the secondary channels on the same coax cable from the satellite. Anyone know this for sure?
