Rumor: Dell Getting Out of the LCD TV Business
There's no confirmed reports but Engadget is reporting that Dell is going to discontinue offering LCD TVs. According to the rumors:
According to unconfirmed reports stemming from Taiwan (where else?), Michael Dell is pulling his company out of the LCD TV biz to return focus to its core PC efforts.
And it sounds like it's happening pretty quick:
Dell is purportedly set to stop manufacture this month, so we should know soon enough how legitimate these reports are, a Dell spokeswoman wouldn't comment on the rumors, only stating that Dell currently sells LCD TVs in a limited number of markets.
We don't know a lot of people with Dell LCD TVs but we know they're pretty reliable for a decent price. Still as we told you recently, LCD prices are at rock bottom and probably not very profitable for a lot of manufacturers right now.
