Shuttle XPC G5 6801M HTPC With Blu-ray/HD DVD Combo Drive Hits Europe

XPC_G5_6801M_1.jpgThe Shuttle XPC G5 6801M HTPC looks to be a great solution for European's sucked into the now legendary HD DVD marketing ploy. Boasting an LG GGC-H20L Blu-ray/HD DVD Combo optical drive, the Shuttle will playback the boatload of HD DVD's you mistakenly bought before the HD disc format went deadpool. Also featuring an AMD Athlon X2 6000+ processor and 500GB of hard disk space, Shuttle says its new HTPC is "ideal for fluid playback" of HD content. The Shuttle XPC G5 6801M HTPC uses the Windows Vista Home Premium OS and has both DVB-T and analog tuners, as well as wireless LAN and 8 channel audio. Check out the press release after the jump...

Shuttle introduces Mini-PC Media-Centre for Blu-ray and HD DVD
A must-have for owners of high-resolution flat-screen televisions

Shuttle Inc., the market leader in the Mini-PC market segment and the manufacturer of Multi-Form-Factor solutions, launches its first AMD-based HD-compatible Mini-PC Complete System. The ready-to-connect aluminium solution can play high-resolution films from both Blu-ray and HD DVD media. A single HDMI cable transfers top quality image and sound to modern flat-screen televisions for play back, thereby avoiding any expensive installation costs.

"The LG GGC-H20L Combo drive is suitable for both HD formats and AMD's Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor and in conjunction with the 2GB DDR2-800 memory delivers the required performance for fluid playback", explained Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing & PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH.

A fully-fledged Media Centre not only stands out due to its fluid playback of cinema films and its ability to run all types of round disks, it also offers TV-reception with expanded options. Whether it is conveniently managing recordings with the remote control or using the Time-Shifting function to ensure you never miss a second of the ongoing program - home cinema is fun. You can use the LG GGC-H20L Combo drive to burn TV recordings, digital photos or music saved on the Shuttle XPC G5 6801M onto DVD.

As a normal operating system runs behind the user-friendly Media-Centre Windows Vista Home Premium interface, all commercially available programs can be installed and used. Many PC-games can also be enjoyed on the home television. The configuration of the Mini-PCs is rounded off with 8-channel audio, Gigabit-LAN, FireWire, six USB-Ports and eSATA-Ports covering all the options you may wish for.
