DTV2009: Wilmington Won't Pull Analog Plug In Event Of A Hurricane, We Sure Hope Not

Carolinapic10.jpgAfter concerns were raised about the September 8 Wilmington analog shut-off falling right in the middle of North Carolina's hurricane season, the FCC has assured city officials that should a hurricane or tropical depression occur prior to shut-off day, the test would be postponed. Kevin Martin, FCC chair, also pointed out that coming February 17, 2009 when the entire country switches to digital the country will be forced to deal with all kinds of similar issues. Additionally, one of the main reasons for the digital switch is to free up spectrum for a nation-wide public emergency alert system.
