Ever Mounted An 8mm Thin LCD HDTV?
For those of you who chose to read this article because they thought it was sexually-oriented, we have this to say to you? C'mon, this is a TV-related blog! That said, if you've ever struggled with a clunky LCD TV while trying to mount it on your wall, this could soon be a problem of the past. At IFA in Berlin, Philips showcased a prototype 8mm thin LCD TV. The 32-inch model, which weighs only 5kg, uses a 1mm light guide illuminated from the top and bottom of the set by high-power LEDs. Typically one of the thicker parts of an LCD TV, Philips has turned the light guide into one of thinnest pieces, hence the super-thin design. No word yet on whether Philips is considering mass-producing the HDTV.
