DivX has done another first, announcing this morning that Panasonic's UniPhier System LSI chip is the first to achieve DivX HD Certification for 1080p Blu-ray playback.

"The DivX Certified UniPhier System LSI enables the playback of high resolution DivX® content on Blu-ray and DVD players, which is the most significant advantage of next generation DVD devices," said Akito Miyamoto, General Manager of Software and Solutions, Semiconductor Company, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. "Our solution to support DivX HD and standard definition video playback is of great value."
