Pioneer Treats Taiwan With The Profile 1.1 BDP-LX71 Blu-ray Player, Their Second Ever

While we in North America whine and complain about unreasonable Blu-ray player prices, the folks in Taiwan have just been treated to the release of the Pioneer BDP-LX71; only the second Blu-ray player to be released in the country. Understandable I guess with demand for 50, 000-100, 000 players in the market next year, but with a price tag of NT$39,900 (about US$1250) the Profile 1.1 Blu-ray player will only appeal to Taiwanese deep-pockets. Good news is Tatung is expected to release their own branded Blu-ray player in Taiwan by the end of the year, for about half the price.
