Philip's Flavor LCD HDTV's Are, Uh, A Little Bright
It really seems to us lately that HDTV manufacturers are beginning to focus on designing the funkiest looking TV rather than the best performing. Especially those regarded as second-tier such as Philips.
The company's new Flavor line of LCD TV's, introduced in Italy, are initially available in 22-, 32-, and 42-inch models geared more for bedroom use than anything. Really the key feature of note is that each set comes with two interchangeable frames, attached with magnets, that add some serious color to each set.
The 42-inch model does have some decent specs including 1080p resolution, 30, 000:1 contrast ratio, 5 ms response time, 500 cd/m2 brightness and a couple of HDMI slots. We're not sure about release dates, although you can sign up to be notified when they are, but you'll pay €549 ($803), €799 ($1,168) and €1,199 ($1,754) for the Flavor's in order from smallest to largest.
